Allen dog bones offer remarkable versatility on your deck. They are the perfect solution for creating high-strength soft shackles or for securing your ropes.
Dog bones are extremely lightweight. Replacing a metal shackle with a dog bone at the end of a jib sheet will help reduce damage when the clew hits the mast, deck, or crew! Reducing weight on the spinnaker or jib clew will also help the sail set more effectively.

Low profile
Streamlining any setup is always a bonus; it will help reduce windage, thus making the boat more efficient. It can also prevent snags.
Quick and simple
There is nothing worse than having to undo a shackle or a knot in a hurry, especially since both can require tools in many situations if they are too tight. However, a dog bone is generally
attached via a simple loop in the rope that releases quickly and easily by hand.
Additional features
Allen dog bones have a different shape than others on the market. Their triple-cut design allows the rope to wrap perfectly around the dog bone without losing any rope strength. The two protruding edges between each of the three tapered cutouts act as a barrier that prevents the dog bone from slipping off the end.
Cross-holes at each end allow for attaching a leash. The end is also recessed to allow the small knot of the leash to sit inside the dog bone to keep it flush.
